27-9-2023 (HANOI) Quang Binh’s tourism industry has achieved remarkable success in 2023, surpassing its initial target of welcoming between 3 million to 3.5 million tourists. In just the first nine months of the year, the region has already attracted nearly 3.7 million tourists, marking a significant increase of 2.32 times compared to the same period in 2022.
Among the total number of tourists, approximately 89,400 were international visitors, indicating a substantial growth of 4.07 times compared to last year. The revenue generated from accommodation services is estimated to reach VNĐ454.3 billion, representing a 1.35 times increase compared to the same period last year.
The outstanding performance of Quang Binh’s tourism industry has garnered attention from reputable domestic and international magazines such as Lonely Planet from the USA, The Travel from Canada, Wanderlust from the UK, and Booking.com. These accolades further solidify Quang Binh’s reputation as a must-visit destination.
The Quang Binh Department of Tourism has been actively promoting and showcasing the region’s tourism offerings to both domestic and international markets through various tourism events and festivals. Their efforts have resulted in the development of numerous new and unique tourism products, aimed at diversifying the visitor experience.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 34 tourism products and attractions have been approved or undergone trial operation in the province. Additionally, the Department of Tourism is currently finalizing the evaluation of two new tourism product development projects. These projects, namely “Experiencing the life of a fisherman in Quang Binh” by Nhat Le Travel Company and “Tram Me – Chay Lap Nature and Glamping Experience” by Vinh Hung Group, aim to provide immersive and unforgettable experiences for tourists.
Furthermore, the Quang Binh Department of Tourism emphasizes the importance of developing connected tourism products and establishing links among provinces, cities, and regions. To achieve this goal, the department actively engages in exchange activities and knowledge-sharing with provinces such as Lai Cau and Binh Dinh. Additionally, they conduct surveys of tourism products in western Quang Tri, further strengthening regional collaboration.
Despite the industry’s achievements, Nguyen Ngoc Quy, Director of the Quang Binh Department of Tourism, acknowledges that many tourism businesses and service providers have not yet fully recovered from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. They continue to face difficulties, and the quality of infrastructure and human resources has not fully met the requirements for tourism development in the current circumstances.
