21-9-2023 (PHNOM PENH) Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has departed for New York, United States, to attend the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), according to a spokesman. Hun Manet is scheduled to address the UNGA on Friday (New York time), focusing on three key dimensions: the global context, Cambodia’s socio-economic progress, and Cambodia’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Transformative Actions.
Meas Sophorn, head of the prime minister’s spokesperson unit, informed reporters before departure that Hun Manet will also engage in bilateral meetings with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and various foreign dignitaries during his stay in New York. The Cambodian leader is expected to return to the country on September 25.
The 78th UNGA session, held under the theme “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All,” is scheduled to take place from September 19 to 26.
