14-9-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A heartwarming story emerged from Malaysia recently when a Foodpanda rider found himself walking home on the streets after his motorcycle was confiscated. The incident, captured in a viral TikTok video, touched the hearts of many, leading to an influencer stepping in with an extraordinary act of kindness.
In the video, which was uploaded on September 12th, the Foodpanda rider can be seen trudging along the road, clutching his delivery cooler bag. Although the video doesn’t explicitly mention the location, it is believed to have taken place in Sepang, Selangor. The video’s caption, “I hope everything will be easier for you, brother,” initially contained remarks about the challenges of working for ride-hailing platforms like Grab and Foodpanda but was later altered.
The reason behind the bike confiscation became clear after the video went viral. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) of Malaysia commented on the video, revealing that the rider’s motor vehicle license had expired, leaving him without insurance. To prevent the possibility of an accident without insurance coverage, JPJ decided to impound the bike. Their comment stated, “If the rider were to end up in an accident, it would inconvenience other motorists and his family. Hope this clarifies.” The comment further revealed that the rider’s license had expired on February 6th.
The heartwarming turn of events came when Malaysian influencer Aisar Khaled caught wind of the viral video. He took to his social media accounts and publicly announced that he was gifting the rider a brand-new motorcycle. A video posted on September 13th showed Aisar arriving at the rider’s residence. The rider, named Syahrul, explained to Aisar that his bike was seized because he had failed to pay his road tax.
Aisar then invited Syahrul to join him in his car, where they headed to a motorbike shop. At the shop, Aisar surprised Syahrul with the incredible gesture of presenting him with a new motorcycle. The emotional moment was captured on camera as Syahrul gratefully embraced Aisar. To add to the generous gift, Aisar also handed Syahrul a stack of RM50 notes.
Aisar expressed his hopes in his caption, saying, “Hopefully, this donation can give encouragement to Abang Syahrul to continue fighting for the family.” The heartwarming story drew an outpouring of well-wishes from netizens, who applauded Aisar for his swift and generous actions. Some noted that while Syahrul now has two road taxes to settle, at least he has a means of livelihood with his new motorcycle.
