13-9-2023 (BANGKOK) army rangers have successfully apprehended three fleeing smugglers and seized a staggering 250,000 methamphetamine pills. The illicit narcotics were discovered in sacks abandoned by the suspects on the banks of the Mekong River in Ban Phaeng district, Nakhon Phanom province.
The operation unfolded as paramilitary rangers received a tip-off regarding an impending drug smuggling activity across the river. Acting on this intelligence, they set up an ambush along the riverbank in Ban Phaeng district. In the early hours of Wednesday, their vigilance paid off when they observed three individuals carrying two suspicious sacks along the riverbank near Phaeng Tai village.
The rangers swiftly revealed their presence and instructed the men to halt for a search. In response, the suspects hastily discarded the sacks and attempted to evade capture by fleeing the scene. Upon inspection of the abandoned sacks, authorities were astounded to find 129 bundles containing a total of 258,000 methamphetamine pills.
