12-9-2023 (JAKARTA) The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has uncovered an adult film production house in South Jakarta, resulting in the arrest of five individuals involved in various roles, from actors to producers. Additionally, a set of film shooting equipment was confiscated by the police.
So, how did this case unfold? Here’s what we know.
According to Commissioner General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the case came to light during a cyber patrol conducted by the police. During this operation, three websites were discovered that were transmitting videos or adult films, each with an average duration of 1-1.5 hours per film.
Ade explained, “The investigation revealed that there were approximately 120 film titles on the websites managed by the suspects. To date, a total of 10,000 users have joined and subscribed to these websites, each with different subscription rates.”
He went on to detail the subscription rates offered, stating, “The subscription packages include a 1-day package for Rp 50,000, a 1-week package for Rp 150,000, a 1-month package for Rp 250,000, and a 1-year package for Rp 500,000.”
The five suspects had been operating this business since 2022, and they have collectively earned approximately Rp 500 million (S$44,328) in profit within the span of a year.
“As for the profits gained by the suspects in approximately one year of operation, starting in early 2022, it has reached around Rp 500 million (S$44,328), and we have also seized several assets during the search and arrest operation,” he added.
The five adult film producers in South Jakarta have been officially declared as suspects and have been detained by the police.
In connection with this case, they are charged under Article 27 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph (1) and/or Article 34 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 50 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions and/or Article 4 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 29 and/or Article 4 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 30 and/or Article 7 in conjunction with Article 33 and/or Article 8 in conjunction with Article 39 and/or Article 9 in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography.
Each of the five suspects had specific roles within the operation, including a male individual (I) who acted as the director, website administrator, owner, and producer.
A woman also played the role of secretary and appeared as an actress in the adult films. The police have revealed that there are still 11 female actresses and five male actors who remain at large and are currently being pursued.
