11-9-2023 (TOKYO) Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is set to complete the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea on Monday (11th), according to reports from Japanese media. The first round of discharge is estimated to be around 7,800 tons, with the second round expected to begin later this month after equipment inspections by TEPCO.
Despite strong opposition from the international community, Japan started discharging the Fukushima nuclear contaminated water into the sea on the 24th of last month. In response, China announced a complete ban on the import of Japanese seafood.
