6-9-2023 (NETHERLANDS) Veteran entertainer Mark Lee, known for his versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles, has achieved a significant milestone in his career. He recently secured a nomination for Best Asian Actor at the prestigious Netherlands’ Septimius Awards, marking the first time a Singaporean actor has received this prestigious honour.
Mark Lee’s nomination stems from his portrayal of a pimp with a dark secret in the 2022 crime thriller “Geylang,” directed by Boi Kwong. The film also featured performances by Sheila Sim and Shane Mardjuki. This recognition comes as a testament to Mark’s acting prowess and his ability to excel in a variety of roles.
The actor had previously garnered attention when he was nominated for Best Leading Actor at the 57th Golden Horse Awards for his role in “Number 1,” which also has a sequel in the works.

In an interview with local publication Lianhe Zaobao, Mark Lee admitted that he was not very familiar with the Septimius Awards but expressed his deep honor at being nominated among the best in the Asian industry.
Mark Lee joins other notable nominees in the Best Asian Actor category, including Iran’s Mohsen Tanabandeh and Indonesia’s Rio Dewanto. The eagerly anticipated Septimius Awards ceremony is scheduled for September 26, where the winner will be revealed.
