6-9-2023 (NEW YORK) Joe Jonas, member of the Jonas Brothers band, has filed for divorce from his wife, Sophie Turner, best known for her roles in Game of Thrones and the X-Men franchise. After four years of marriage and two children, the 34-year-old singer filed the divorce papers in Florida’s Miami-Dade County Court on Tuesday (Sep 5).
In the filing, it is stated that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The couple had a private wedding ceremony in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019, following the Billboard Music Awards. The wedding was attended by close friends, and country duo Dan + Shay performed at the event.
Turner and Jonas welcomed their first child, a daughter named Willa, in 2020. They have not publicly disclosed the name of their second daughter, born last year. According to the divorce documents, Jonas is seeking joint custody of their children. The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, which Jonas expects to be upheld.
Representatives for Jonas and Turner have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the divorce.
In interviews, the couple revealed that they were introduced by mutual friends and initially connected through direct messages on Instagram in 2016. They met in person later that year and began exclusively dating by December. Their engagement was announced in October 2017.
Turner, originally from Northampton, England, gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones and has also appeared as Jean Grey in the X-Men films. Jonas, born in Arizona, rose to fame as part of the Jonas Brothers band alongside his brothers Nick and Kevin. They achieved success with their music and starred in their own Disney Channel series. The band released their sixth studio album in May and is currently on a tour of US stadiums.
