The authorities were alerted to the crime when the police raided the condominium in Thonglor and apprehended the young man. The victim, a 52-year-old French national, was found lifeless in the lower-level guest room of their three-story townhome. He had sustained severe head injuries from a blunt object, believed to be a hammer, which was recovered at the scene as evidence. The incident occurred in the early evening of September 1, when neighbors reported hearing a heated argument between the victim and his son, lasting approximately 15 minutes. Shortly after the altercation, silence fell upon the residence, and the lights remained off throughout the night. It was unusual for the son, who would typically park his motorcycle in front of the house, but on the day of the incident, he left the vehicle elsewhere.
The wife of the deceased revealed that the family had been living separately in recent times, with the victim residing in the townhome. However, the son frequently visited and was known to have a volatile temperament, often engaging in heated arguments with his father. Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasert Chanakorn, the deputy superintendent of the Thonglor Police Station, led the investigation and promptly apprehended the 19-year-old suspect, identified as Paul, at a condominium in the Thonglor area. The young man was found in possession of blood-stained shoes, indicating his involvement in the crime. Preliminary questioning suggests that the son engaged in a violent altercation with his father, using the hammer as a weapon, resulting in the tragic loss of life.
