27-8-2023 (MOSCOW) The unsettling aftermath of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s private plane crash took a significant turn last week, as Russian investigators confirmed through genetic testing that the recovered remains indeed belong to the Wagner Group’s leader. The incident, which occurred on August 23 near the town of Kuzhenkino, north of Moscow, resulted in the tragic loss of ten lives.
On Sunday, Russia’s Investigative Committee revealed that DNA tests conclusively linked the remains found at the crash site to all ten individuals listed on the ill-fated flight. Svetlana Petrenko, spokeswoman for the committee, affirmed, “The remains conform to the manifest.”
In a statement provided to Interfax, the Russian newswire, the committee reported, “Molecular and genetic tests have been completed as part of the investigation of the plane crash in the Tver region. According to their findings, all ten victims have been identified. They fully match the list on the flight manifest.”
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain shrouded in mystery, with U.S. officials suggesting the possibility of an explosion occurring on board the plane, potentially due to a strategically placed bomb. These assertions emerged as part of an initial investigation disclosed to ABC News last week.
