26-8-2023 (ISLAMABAD) Eight individuals, including six school students aged 10 to 16 years old and two teachers, in Pakistan experienced a nightmarish ordeal when one of the cables supporting their cable car, locally known as a “Dolly,” snapped. This terrifying incident left the cable car suspended 274 meters above a ravine for an agonizing 15 hours before they were successfully rescued.
Sky News shared drone footage on their TikTok account, revealing the heart-wrenching and horrifying situation faced by the trapped passengers before their rescue. They captioned the video: “Extraordinary drone footage shows 6 school children and their teachers trapped inside a cable car dangling over a river canyon in Pakistan.”
The footage captured the passengers inside the cable car desperately holding on as it hung at a perilous height. Reports suggest that the group had chosen the cable car as an affordable and quick means of reaching their school, located in a village atop a mountain. The alternative road journey to the mountaintop would have taken approximately two hours, whereas the cable car shortened the trip to a mere four minutes.
The ill-fated Dolly carrying the passengers was purportedly on its fifth trip of the day when the cable tragically snapped.
Fortunately, all those aboard were eventually brought safely back to the ground, bringing an end to their harrowing ordeal.
