7-8-2023 (LOS ANGELES) Director Greta Gerwig is on cloud nine as her movie “Barbie” surpassed the US$1 billion mark at the box office, cementing her position as the first solo female director to achieve such a remarkable feat. Adding to her joy, she recently celebrated her 40th birthday in a manner befitting the iconic Barbie herself.
On August 5, the official social media accounts for the Barbie movie surprised Gerwig with a Ken-themed flash mob during what seemed to be her Pilates session. The men in the flash mob showcased their Ken-like skills as they performed the catchy song “I’m Just Ken” from the movie. Following their performance, a group of women dressed as Barbies joined in, dancing to Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night.”
The heartwarming surprise brought tears of happiness to Gerwig’s eyes as she warmly embraced the members of the flash mob. Curiously, when asked who was behind the thoughtful gesture, she had no clue. As it turned out, the mastermind behind the surprise was none other than “Beach Ken” himself, the talented Ryan Gosling.
Ryan Gosling’s portrayal of Ken in the movie has garnered widespread acclaim, with fans even calling for an Academy Award nomination for his outstanding performance. The song “I’m Just Ken” has become a sensation, debuting at No. 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and generating significant traction on various social media platforms.
