6-8-2023 (6-8-2023) A car bomb explosion rocked the area near a police base in Sungai Kolok district of Narathiwat, a province in Thailand’s deep South, on Saturday night. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties from the incident.
The blast occurred at Orakan intersection, close to a railway track and the 9313 ad hoc police base, at approximately 8 pm. The car bomb had been planted in a parked vehicle amid the rain at the intersection. The driver of the car hastily abandoned the vehicle and quickly hopped onto a waiting motorcycle, leaving the scene just moments before the explosion.
The aftermath of the blast left debris of the car strewn around an area within a 100-meter radius, including the vehicle’s license plates. Authorities promptly cordoned off the vicinity and called in a bomb squad and forensic police to examine the site.
