6-8-2023 (TEL AVIV) A municipal patrol officer in Tel Aviv, Israel, was shot and attacked by a Palestinian gunman on Saturday (5th of August), who was subsequently killed in the encounter.
According to reports from British media, the incident occurred on Saturday in downtown Tel Aviv, where a municipal patrol officer was targeted and shot by a Palestinian assailant. Mayor Ron Huldai stated that the gunman was shot dead by another municipal patrol officer. He said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured officer.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the actions of the city patrol officers in a brief statement.
The Israeli police released a statement revealing that the gunman was a 27-year-old resident from the town of Jenin in the West Bank. While the Palestinian militant group Hamas applauded the attack, they did not claim responsibility for it.
