Following the case of a Japanese woman found dead, strangled in a prominent hotel on Mahidol Road in Muang Chiang Mai, the body of Ms. Ami Hosoe, aged 25, a Japanese national, was discovered wearing a black muscle shirt and black underwear with a white phone charger wrapped around her neck. The body was stiff, and no signs of struggle were found. Subsequently, authorities took the boyfriend for questioning at Muang Chiang Mai Police Station before releasing him for further investigations (August 3). Pol. Lt. Gen. Wirachon Boontawee, the Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 5, accompanied by Pol. Col. Thanong Saklek, the Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 5, and Pol. Col. Tanongsak Chanjuengkao, the Investigating Officer of Muang Chiang Mai Police Station, and the owner of the case, went to inspect the crime scene once again, as well as question the boyfriend of the deceased inside the room where the incident occurred. The hotel staff requested that the media not be allowed to follow their inspection. This case has garnered attention from the Japanese media, who have arrived in the area to cover the news.
Over an hour later, Pol. Lt. Gen. Wirachon Boontawee spoke after examining the crime scene and questioning the boyfriend of the deceased, stating, “Today, we inspected the crime scene and requested medical examination results. The examination will include blood tests and whether their statements are compatible. At this stage, the boyfriend is not considered a suspect and is still under investigation to find the exact cause of death. We will need to question the relatives of the deceased, and the investigation is still underway, in accordance with the law. As for the boyfriend, we have asked him to remain present during the investigation to ascertain the cause of death and whether his statements will be consistent with the evidence. If the medical examination results are available, we will question witnesses to corroborate whether they match the autopsy findings. Afterward, we will proceed with the necessary legal procedures.”
At the same time, the Japanese Consul, police officers, and forensic doctors from Maharaj Nakorn Hospital re-entered the hotel room, Room 203, for inspection and questioning, which took over three and a half hours.
