1-8-2023 (HONG KONG) The funeral ceremony for CoCo Lee, the queen of Mandarin pop who passed away on July 5 at the age of 48, began at 10:30 AM today at the Hong Kong Funeral Home. Although her elder and second sisters, Nancy Lee and Carol Lee, were in attendance, her estranged husband Bruce Rockowitz and their two daughters were notably absent from the service.
Yesterday, a public memorial was held at the same venue, where fans from around the world paid their respects to the iconic singer. CoCo’s memorial service was also live-streamed, and over a hundred fans came to the funeral home to pay their respects. Some fans even gathered on the pedestrian bridge outside the funeral home to watch the proceedings.
The funeral service started at 10:30 AM today, and CoCo’s remains will be cremated at the Cape Collinson Crematorium in Tai Tam Gap later. The event was heavily covered by the media, with police officers present to maintain order.
CoCo’s good friend, veteran singer Jenny Tseng, and singer Mike Tsang were also present at the memorial service. The main colours of the hall were purple and white, and the scene was touching as many fans attended the event to bid farewell to CoCo.
The absence of CoCo’s estranged husband and their daughters at the ceremony was notable, with their seats in the hall kept empty. However, the event proceeded smoothly, with pallbearers carrying CoCo’s casket throughout the service.
CoCo Lee was a prominent figure in the Mandarin pop music industry, with a career spanning over two decades. Her passing has left a significant impact on her fans, and her contributions to the music industry will never be forgotten.
