4-7-2023 (BANGKOK) In a horrifying incident that shocked the residents of Bang Khen neighborhood, Bangkok, a 12-year-old girl, who was living with her stepfather and mother, tragically lost her life after being brutally beaten with a baseball bat. The grim discovery was made inside a two-story townhouse, which was used for packaging goods for a delivery company.
Lieutenant Colonel Thanasak Pongsakorn, Deputy Superintendent of Bang Khen Police Station, along with investigating officers and forensic experts, rushed to the scene following the report of a possible homicide in a residential area on Phahonyothin Road, Soi 48, near Anusawari Monument, Bang Khen District.
The investigation revealed that the townhouse served as a packaging facility where goods were prepared for delivery to various clients. During the inspection of the ground floor kitchen area, authorities found a 200-liter blue plastic barrel hidden under the sink counter. When the barrel was opened, it was shockingly discovered that it contained the lifeless body of a 12-year-old girl, the stepdaughter of the homeowners.
The victim was wrapped in a pink cloth and black garbage bags, showing signs of violence with injuries on her face and body, allegedly inflicted by blunt objects. Medical examiner Dr. Pumipon from Pumipon Hospital confirmed that the young girl had already passed away approximately 48 hours before the discovery.
According to the initial statements of the 24-year-old female informant, Bell, who is a distant relative of the deceased girl, the victim, identified as Miss Arisa, had been living with her and her 30-year-old sister, Mint, along with Mint’s 29-year-old husband, Yutthana, also known as “Jeb.” Mint and Yutthana were the girl’s legal guardians and had been taking care of her since she was five years old.
However, Miss Arisa was not attending school and did not live with her biological parents. She had a reputation for being rebellious and prone to stealing food from the house, causing tension in the household. Both Mint and Yutthana had previously tried to discipline her with physical punishment, but as Miss Arisa resisted, the situation escalated, causing distress to her caregivers.
On the evening of July 3rd, at around 7:00 PM, Mint and Yutthana decided to drive the girl to a residence in Ram Inthra to seek assistance from acquaintances. During this visit, Yutthana allegedly confessed to the acquaintances that he had used a baseball bat to repeatedly beat Miss Arisa, leading to her untimely death on July 2nd. Subsequently, Mint and Yutthana purchased a large plastic barrel to conceal the body, covering it with cement and soil.
Following the confession, Yutthana left the area and has been on the run since then, while Mint, the wife, is currently in custody, awaiting further investigation.
As the investigation continues, the police are closely monitoring Yutthana’s whereabouts to proceed with legal action against him. Depending on the outcome of the ongoing inquiry, Mint may also face charges for her involvement in the concealment of the girl’s body and her alleged participation in the crime.
The deceased girl’s body will be handed over to the Moolnithi Foundation for further funeral arrangements after the necessary evidence has been collected. The authorities remain committed to delivering justice for the young victim and ensuring that all those involved in this heinous act are brought to face the full extent of the law.
