3-7-2023 (JAKARTA) A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s eastern province of Papua on Monday, according to the country’s meteorology, climatology, and geophysics agency. The earthquake, which occurred off the coast of Papua, did not result in a tsunami.
The tremor, with its epicenter located at a depth of 10 kilometers, rattled the region, causing panic among residents. The earthquake’s impact was felt in several areas, including the provincial capital of Jayapura.
Authorities swiftly responded to the seismic event, assessing the situation and ensuring the safety of the local population. No reports of casualties or significant damage have been received thus far.
