2-7-2023 (SINGAPORE) A shocking incident took place at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) Headquarters along Clementi Road on June 30, 2023, when an 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed another man in the neck. The incident occurred around 12:12 PM, sending shockwaves through the campus.
Eyewitnesses reported that the stabbing incident happened in close proximity to an ongoing event, and the campus was filled with auxiliary police officers who swiftly responded to the situation.
The suspect, Thevendran Rao Rejendran, a Malaysian national, was brought before the court on July 1, 2023, and charged with one count of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. Investigators believe that he used a pair of scissors to carry out the attack, targeting the victim’s neck.
Court records indicate that Thevendran and the victim are colleagues, both working as cleaners. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined, as investigations are still ongoing.
During the court proceedings, the prosecuting officer requested additional time for the police to conclude their investigations and obtain the victim’s medical reports from the hospital. These crucial pieces of evidence will shed more light on the severity of the victim’s injuries and aid in the proper legal proceedings.
If found guilty, Thevendran could face a maximum prison sentence of up to 7 years, a fine, caning, or a combination of these penalties. The court will carefully consider all available evidence and testimonies to deliver a fair and just verdict.
