27-6-2023 (JAKARTA) Despite the recent revocation of visa-free entry for tourists from 159 countries and the presence of a rabies outbreak, Bali’s tourism industry continues to thrive, according to Bali Governor Wayan Koster. Speaking after the Plenary Session of the Bali Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Governor Koster assured that Bali has not encountered any obstacles hindering tourist visits, and in fact, the province is fully booked until August.
Contrary to earlier predictions, the revocation of visa-free entry on June 7, 2023, has not led to a decline in international tourist arrivals. Governor Koster emphasized that Bali is witnessing an increase in international tourist visits, underscoring that factors such as rabies and visa changes circulating among the public have not harmed the province’s tourism industry in any way.
Governor Koster shared that from June 1 to 7, a total of 16,246 tourists visited Bali, and the number has continued to rise by four percent per day until June 22. This positive trend signifies that nothing is deterring tourists from choosing Bali as their destination, and it has contributed to the province’s economic growth.
Regarding the rabies outbreak, Governor Koster assured that the provincial government is taking decisive measures to address the issue. The Agriculture Office and Health Office are working collaboratively, while cooperation with the Health Ministry and local governments is also underway. The central government is providing support to expedite rabies vaccinations, with Bali being prioritized due to its status as a popular tourist destination.
Bali’s tourism industry remains resilient despite recent challenges, and Governor Koster’s reassurance signifies the province’s commitment to maintaining its appeal to international visitors.
