23-6-2023 (BANGKOK) After 20 days of trial runs, the Yellow Line monorail in Bangkok encountered its first technical problem on Thursday, causing a temporary closure of five stops from Lat Phrao 101 to Hua Mak for approximately one and a half hours.
The incident occurred at 7am due to an electrical problem, marking the first such issue since the 23 stations on the line became fully operational on June 19.
Efforts were swiftly made to alleviate congestion, and normal operations resumed at 10.15am, restoring the smooth functioning of the monorail.
In a separate development, the Department of Rail Transport (DRT) and other relevant agencies have announced plans to expedite the process of improving signage that indicates the connection between Lat Phrao station on the Yellow Line and the MRT’s Blue Line.
Pichet Kunadhamraks, the Director-General of the DRT, stated that Eastern Bangkok Monorail (EBM) would enhance the signs at Exit 3 of the Yellow Line’s Lat Phrao station, while Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) would focus on Exit 4 of the Blue Line’s Lat Phrao station.
