1-11-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) An 82-year-old individual stood trial at the Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh, facing allegations of molesting a 50-year-old woman. Liang Sing Kup, the accused, entered a plea of not guilty before Magistrate Khairunnisak Hasni during the recent court proceedings.
According to the charge sheet, Liang Sing Kup is accused of committing acts that allegedly violated the modesty of Teng Mee Cheng. The alleged misconduct includes caressing her hands, hugging her, and grabbing her head. These acts are said to have taken place at an office located in Jalan Merdeka, Taman Melaka Raya, Bandar Hilir, in the Melaka Tengah district, at 3:50 pm on September 11. The charge falls under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which prescribes penalties of up to 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping, or any combination of these penalties, if the accused is found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Wardah Ishar handled the prosecution in the case, while the accused received legal representation from counsel A. Renganathan Abdullah.
The court granted Liang Sing Kup bail in the amount of RM3,000 with one surety and scheduled the next mention date for December 7.
