A British mother and daughter were recently visiting the National Gallery in London when they stumbled upon an intriguing discovery in a 400-year-old portrait—a young boy, depicted in the artwork, wearing a pair of sports shoes with the “NIKE” logo. The unexpected sight amused and astonished the pair, leading them to jokingly refer to the boy as a “time traveler!”
According to the Daily Mail, Fiona Horscott, a 57-year-old woman, and her 23-year-old daughter, Holly, were touring the art museum in London. While admiring a 17th-century portrait, they noticed an eight-year-old noble boy dressed in a black cloak and holding a goblet. What surprised them even more was that the boy was wearing sports shoes with a white “NIKE” logo.
Amidst laughter, Fiona couldn’t help but ask her daughter, “Wait, is he wearing Nike sneakers?” The discovery sparked their imagination, leading them to speculate that the boy depicted in the painting might be a legendary “time traveler.” The report mentions that the artwork was created by Dutch painter Ferdinand Bol and portrays his nephew, Frederick, who belonged to a wealthy family of wine merchants. The painting dates back to the 1650s, more than 300 years before the establishment of Nike on January 25, 1964. This intriguing coincidence has reinforced the belief in the existence of real “time travelers.” (Internet photo)
