5-1-2025 (JAKARTA) Three young men from Cimaung, Bandung Regency, have been detained by Bandung Police following allegations of harassment against Singaporean tourists on the historic Braga Street, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The suspects, identified only by their initials RF, RM, and MCA, are currently being questioned by investigators at Bandung Police headquarters regarding the incident involving Singaporean couple Joanna and Darien.
Bandung Police Chief Commissioner Budi Sartono revealed that initial attempts to contact the Singaporean Embassy proved unsuccessful, prompting authorities to reach out to the victims directly via email. “We received a positive response from the victims, who have agreed to entrust the case entirely to the police,” Sartono stated at police headquarters.
In a significant development, the victims have expressed willingness to forgive their alleged assailants, provided they issue a public apology. This stance was reinforced through Darien’s recent Instagram post on his account @darienanjdo, where he addressed the incident.

“My wife Joanna and I wish to express our profound gratitude for the overwhelming support during this challenging time,” Darien wrote. “We are cooperating with local police, embassy officials, and authorities, and are grateful for all assistance provided.”
The couple has set 11 January 2025 as the deadline for a public and sincere apology, stating they would not pursue legal action if this condition is met. “This isn’t about revenge; it’s about standing against sexual harassment in any form, which should never be experienced by anyone, whether tourist or local resident,” Darien emphasised.
The couple also called for calm, urging against vigilante justice. “While we understand the anger many of you feel, we strongly request that no one resorts to violence. Despite the gravity of this incident, we firmly believe violence is not the solution. Instead, we wish to use this opportunity to promote accountability and positive change,” the post concluded.
