10-7-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Tragedy struck on Monday (Jul 10) in Malaysia when a tourist bus from Singapore collided with a car on the North-South Expressway, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The victims have been identified as the bus driver and an Indonesian woman who was a passenger. Additionally, five others sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Authorities from the rescue team confirmed that the bus was carrying a total of 19 passengers at the time of the incident. Among them, 14 were foreign nationals, including four Indonesians, three Singaporeans, two Canadians, three from the Philippines, and one each from China and Spain.
According to preliminary investigations, the bus, owned by La Holidays Travel & Tours, was en route from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur when the authorities received notification of the incident at approximately 5 am.
Deputy police chief of the Nilai district, Mat Ghani Lateh, provided insight into the accident, stating, “The bus is believed to have collided with a bridge pillar on the right side of the expressway before veering to the left and crashing into a Proton Wira car that was traveling in the left lane. The impact caused the bus to collide with the left shoulder of the road.”
The collision had devastating consequences, leading to the immediate fatality of the 33-year-old bus driver and the 42-year-old Indonesian passenger. The injured victims were rushed to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban, where five bus passengers were reported to be in critical condition, while the remaining 13 passengers suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, the passenger of the Proton Wira car sustained only minor injuries, while the driver emerged unharmed.
