24-5-2023 (Kuala Lumpur) The highly anticipated 16th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) commenced on Tuesday, marking its return after a four-year hiatus forced by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The event, first introduced in 1991 and held biannually, serves as a vital platform for the maritime and aerospace industries, attracting industry professionals, officials, and decision-makers from numerous countries.
Spanning from May 23 to May 27, this year’s LIMA boasts an extensive lineup of exhibitors hailing from both the defense and commercial sectors, showcasing their products and services within dedicated country pavilions. The event promises to be a hub of innovation, networking, and knowledge exchange for participants.

Among the highlights eagerly anticipated by spectators are the awe-inspiring aerobatic displays. Acrobatics teams from China, Indonesia, Russia, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates have captured the attention of onlookers, dazzling the skies above the Langkawi International Airport with their exceptional skills.
During a reception held on Monday evening, Malaysian Defense Minister Mohamad Hasan emphasized the significance of fostering dialogue to pave the way for a robust, stable, and sustainable future in the industry. His speech underscored the importance of collaboration and partnership in driving progress and growth.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the pivotal role that this year’s LIMA plays in rejuvenating the commercial sectors of maritime and aerospace, which were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed optimism about the event’s potential to reignite business activities and propel industry recovery.
Organizers have projected an estimated turnout of 45,000 delegates and trade visitors, in addition to an anticipated 250,000 members of the public who are expected to flock to the exhibition grounds throughout the duration of the event.
