2-1-2025 (NEW YORK) A shooting incident outside a popular nightclub in Queens has left eleven people wounded in what authorities are describing as one of the borough’s most significant mass casualty events this year.
The violence erupted on Wednesday night at approximately 11:20 pm near the Amazura nightclub, a well-known entertainment venue in Jamaica, Queens. The establishment, situated at 91-12 144th Place, is renowned for its dance events, DJ performances, and live entertainment.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, with multiple ambulances and police units descending upon the location. Footage circulating on social media platform X showed a substantial law enforcement presence outside the venue in the aftermath of the shooting.
The victims were promptly transported to various medical facilities in the area, including Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen’s Children Medical Center. In what authorities are calling a fortunate turn of events, none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening, according to the New York City Police Department.
The incident comes amid growing concerns about gun violence in American cities, following a recent tragic shooting in New Orleans that claimed fifteen lives. The Queens incident, while resulting in no fatalities, marks another troubling episode in the ongoing discussion about urban gun violence.
Amazura, described in local listings as a “spacious, high-energy nightspot featuring dancing, DJs & live performances plus cocktails & drinks,” has been a fixture in the Jamaica neighbourhood’s nightlife scene.
