He had originally planned to enjoy one of the world’s longest water slides with his girlfriend, but the ride took an unexpected turn, as documented in a TikTok video posted on October 30.
The couple was gearing up for a thrilling descent down an inner tube water slide that Guinness World Records has declared the world’s longest, spanning a staggering 1,111 meters as it winds through Penang’s forested hillside. It’s a three-minute journey to the bottom, and they were ready to experience the exhilaration.
In the video, Chiah settled himself comfortably on the float first, with his girlfriend preparing to take the seat behind him. However, just as the lifeguard was making final adjustments to the float, an unexpected turn of events unfolded. The float started slipping down the slide with Chiah and the lifeguard in tow, leaving Chiah’s girlfriend standing at the top of the slide, bewildered.
The lifeguard’s startled expression and his slight fumbling as he tried to sit on the float suggested that he might have accidentally pushed it off the top of the slide. Chiah, equally surprised to find the lifeguard behind him instead of his girlfriend, couldn’t help but inquire, “My baby leh?” The lifeguard pointed to the top of the slide and replied, “There.” He explained in Malay that he had fallen, which was why he ended up accompanying Chiah.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, it seemed the two men quickly struck up a friendly conversation during the three-minute ride. Chiah introduced himself and even shook hands with the lifeguard. He also inquired if it was the lifeguard’s first day on the job.
In the video’s caption, Chiah pondered whether the lifeguard had played a prank on him. Later, speaking to SAYS, Chiah confirmed that indeed, it was all in good fun. The incident turned out to be a prank that made their visit to the theme park even more memorable, creating a unique and unexpected adventure that they won’t soon forget.
