26-12-2023 (NEW DELHI) In a miraculous turn of events at Barh Railway Station in Bihar, India, a woman and her two children narrowly escaped tragedy when a train passed over them. The incident, which unfolded on Saturday (Dec 24), was captured in videos showing the woman shielding her children on the railway tracks as the train sped through the station.
Despite the harrowing circumstances, all three emerged from the incident unscathed, as reported by news agency NDTV, citing officials on the scene.
The woman and her children had been at Barh Railway Station to board the Vikramshila Express, a train service linking Bhagalpur, a city in Bihar, to the capital of New Delhi, along with their family.
The perilous situation occurred when a large group of passengers rushed to board the train, pushing the woman and her two children off the platform and onto the tracks. The videos depict the woman crouched over her children as the speeding train passes, leaving them seemingly unharmed.
After the train departed, vigilant passengers and local officials rushed to their aid, pulling the trio back onto the platform. Meanwhile, the woman’s husband, separated from his family during the chaos, reportedly jumped from the train and returned to the station.
Following the incident, the woman and her children were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for a medical checkup, and NDTV reported that their condition is stable. The miraculous survival underscores the swift response of onlookers and officials, averting what could have been a tragic outcome.
